Chris Anthem

Born and raised in Hackney, East London, Chris Anthem embraced the UK underground culture from a very young age—where pirate radio ruled the airwaves and rave energy pulsed through every street corner. From recording Jungle and Hardcore sets off Kool FM at just nine years old to mimicking MCs and trading tapes on his estate, music wasn’t just a passion—it was destiny.

Inspired by early influences like his cousin DJ Baron, Chris cut his teeth like most at that time on belt-drive decks before upgrading to the iconic Technic 1210 MK2’s. A regular party goer at legendary spots including Bagleys, Camden Palace, and the infamous Gass Club, he found his true sound in the deeper, rawer side of UK Garage—where underground beats and electric crowds created unforgettable moments.

By his late teens, Chris was spinning on Fresh FM, and was a resident at the infamous Fat Sid’s, building a reputation for authentic, high-energy sets. But after stepping away from the scene for over two decades, it was a chance rediscovery of his vinyl collection during lockdown that reignited the flame.

Fast forward to today, Chris is back—louder, sharper, and more passionate than ever. Through viral Instagram vinyl features and live sessions, he’s built a loyal following, driven by his signature call to “Stop What You’re Doing Right Now”—a reminder that music “Is Way More Important”.

Since returning to live shows in 2025, Chris has quickly re-established himself as a key figure in the underground house and Garage scene, now holding a residency with “Catch The Vibe” every last Saturday of the month and becoming the host of the Official Simply Garage Show on Subjam Every Friday from 8-10pm.

Expect nothing less than pure nostalgia, underground energy, and—of course—Aaaaabsolute bangers.
