Todd Edwards
Grammy winner, Daft Punk collaborator and certified house pioneer, Todd Edwards has built a career on a sound that still feels futuristic. His signature style, chopped vocal fragments stitched into hypnotic patterns over swung, four-to-the-floor drums and disco-leaning basslines, helped reshape club music on both sides of the Atlantic.
Widely regarded as one of the godfathers of UK garage, Edwards’ influence runs deep. His intricate cut-up technique became a blueprint for a generation, feeding directly into the evolution of garage while maintaining the soulful DNA of US house. The result is a catalogue that feels both technically meticulous and emotionally charged.
Beyond his own productions, Edwards’ remix résumé reads like a roll call of electronic royalty. He has reworked tracks for Daft Punk, Phoenix, Justice, Matthew Dear, Hot Chip, Spank Rock, Boris, Appaloosa, Klaxons, Surkin, Robin S, Zoot Woman, St. Germain and Dimitri From Paris, each time imprinting his unmistakable rhythmic swing and vocal craftsmanship.
His relationship with Daft Punk stands apart. Edwards remains the only artist the duo collaborated with twice. He sang, co-wrote and co-produced “Face to Face” on Discovery in 2001, a track now considered a classic of the French touch era. More than a decade later he returned for “Fragments of Time” on Random Access Memories, earning a Grammy and reinforcing his place in dance music history.
Todd Edwards is not just a collaborator or remixer. He is an architect of modern garage and house, a producer whose techniques became foundational, and whose influence continues to ripple through contemporary electronic music.
