DJ SYKIK, a seasoned underground house and garage DJ with nearly three decades of experience, has been shaping the UK’s electronic music landscape since the mid-90s. Starting his journey in the jungle scene, SYKIK smoothly transitioned to house and garage in 97, riding the wave of evolution into the grime era of the early 2000s. SYKIK is known for being a strictly Vinyl DJ specialist, with a deep knowledge of all things vinyl. He boasts a collection of vinyl only some DJs would dream of and is known for cutting dubplates since his early days at iconic cutting houses like JTS and Music house keeping up to date and ahead of the game, he focuses on playing rare unreleased and the latest productions as well as bringing his own style to the platter. This versatile artist has left his mark on London’s clubbing hotspots and iconic pirate radio stations from Cookies & Cream at the Leisure Lounge to the safari club in Peckham, including outer London spots such as Love Injection at club Zen in Kent not forgetting his home county of ESSEX Where he shook the dance floor at time&envy in Romford & Cultural Vibes in southend. He would also at every opportunity be in and around the underground pirate radio scene flexing his collection on stations such as RINSE FM, RAW MISSION, FLAVA FM, DEJA VU, Y2K and in his home county CHARGE AND Y2K ESSEX where he became known for bringing famous artists on to his shows as guests. A natural & true innovator, SYKIK, alongside his friend Rossy Cee recently spearheaded the new generation of UK Garage underground lathe cut LTD edition vinyl releases. Starting 2 record labels called PIRATE CUTZ & DANGER DUBS. This groundbreaking move brought fresh, unheard talent to the forefront of the scene, cementing SYKIK’s role as a creative innovator in the underground house and garage community. SYKIK’s influences are as diverse as his sets, drawing inspiration from hip hop to RnB to reggae and more importantly into jungle music where legends like DJ Brockie and DJ Hype led to his love and attraction to DJing, where he started out as a jungle DJ before making a natural transition to underground House & Garage in late 1997. Sykik was influenced by garage pioneers like Tuff Jam, Jason Kaye & DJ EZ. At the turn of the millennium, this eclectic mix of influences shines through in his dynamic performances, keeping the vibe fresh and the energy high. As the millennium turned, SYKIK rode the wave of grime’s emergence, sharing decks with heavyweights like Dizzee Rascal, Nasty Crew and ruff sqwad and also becoming a resident at iconic GRIME night BEATZ2BATTLE. Currently, SYKIK is A&R for an original 90s house & garage label Damn Right Productions, (DRPMUSIC), helping coordinate vinyl releases on their label DRP.
