Phonetix

Also known as as Mr Jazz Step, Phonetix (pronounced “foh-net-ix”) is Rob Thomas – a gold-certified, award-winning Artist, Multi-Instrumentalist, Engineer, Producer, DJ, Podcaster & Label Executive from London.

Phonetix is a veteran of the game, having kick started his career all the way back in the early 2000s, boasting impressive early support from DJ EZ & many more. In 2021 he was on a serious grind, featuring as an original producer, remixer & collaborator on 50 tracks. This includes a fabulous label run with the likes of Garage Shared, Nuvolve, Strictly Flava, Strictly House & Garage, Downplay & more, alongside a full length album drop of ‘Jazz Step FM’ back in February… his catalogue is pretty exceptional, covering a range of different styles within the UKG spectrum with a serious level of consistency that very few others have been able to either match or beat.

Outside of his production work Phonetix has hosted the monthly Garage Essentials show; along with topical Garage & Bass podcast In The Garage (alongside Sub FM’s DJ BrainZ). He has also recorded music which has been used everywhere from programming on the Fox Network, to advertisements for Serato.
